TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more)

This nationally recognised course equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform (EWP)where the boom length is 11 metres or more, in accordance with legislative and site-specific requirements. Students must be 18 years or over.
This program is delivered over three full days and includes a combination of:
- Face-to-face classroom theory
- Hands-on practical training
- High Risk Work Licence assessment
The course is designed to prepare candidates for operating EWPs in real-world, high-risk work environments across construction, infrastructure, and industrial sites.
Entry Requirements
- Candidates must be 18 years or over
- Must have basic English language, literacy and numeracy skills
- Must provide valid photo identification
- PPE is required (e.g. hard hat, high-vis clothing, safety boots)
Course Content
Participants will learn to:
- Conduct routine checks and equipment inspections
- Assess the work area for hazards and apply control measures
- Operate the EWP safely to position personnel and materials
- Apply risk control principles and emergency procedures
- Shut down and secure the EWP
Assessment
Assessment includes:
- Written theory assessments
- Calculations assessment
- Practical skills assessments conducted in accordance with RTO and WHSQ requirements
Outcome
Upon successful completion, participants will receive:
- Statement of Attainment
- Candidate Assessment Summary (CAN) required to apply for a High Risk Work Licence – WP class
If the trainer determines, based on a pre-assessment, that a learner requires further practice to meet the required competency level, the learner may be required to return for additional practical training on the next available date. In such cases, a re-attendance fee may apply.
