This nationally recognised course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with workplace procedures, regulatory standards, and relevant legislation.

A forklift truck is defined as a powered industrial truck equipped with a lifting mechanism—typically a mast and elevating load carriage with fork arms or other attachments—that is capable of raising loads 900mm above the ground. Students must be 18 years or over.

Entry Requirements

• Participants must be 18 years of age or older
• Basic English literacy and numeracy are required
• Participants must provide valid identification
• PPE (e.g. steel cap boots, high-vis clothing) must be worn

Delivery Format

• Face-to-face training across 3 days
• Includes theory and practical training, RTO and licensing assessments
• Delivered using Work Ready training methods designed to prepare candidates for real job sites

Course Content

Participants will learn to:

• Conduct routine checks and pre-operational inspections
• Safely plan and prepare forklift operations
• Operate the forklift in a variety of scenarios
• Shift loads safely and efficiently
• Shut down and secure the forklift post-operation
• Understand WHS obligations and hazard control measures

Assessment

Assessment includes:

• Written theory assessments
• Calculations assessment
• Practical driving and operational assessments conducted in accordance with RTO and WHSQ requirements

Outcome

On successful completion, participants will receive:

• A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment
• Candidate Assessment Summary (CAN) required to apply for a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) – LF class

Fees and Payment

Payment is $600 at the time of booking to secure a place. If pre-assessment requirements are not met, further training may be required and re-attendance fees may apply.
