TLILIC0003 Licence to operate Forklift

This nationally recognised course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with workplace procedures, regulatory standards, and relevant legislation.

A forklift truck is defined as a powered industrial truck equipped with a lifting mechanism—typically a mast and elevating load carriage with fork arms or other attachments—that is capable of raising loads 900mm above the ground. This course does not cover the use of pedestrian-operated or pallet trucks. Students must be 18 years or over.

Entry Requirements

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older

  • Basic English literacy and numeracy are required

  • Participants must provide valid identification

  • PPE (e.g. steel cap boots, high-vis clothing) must be worn


Delivery Format

  • Face-to-face training across 3 days

  • Includes theory, practical training, and licensing assessment

  • Delivered using WorkReady training methods designed to prepare candidates for real job sites


Course Content

Participants will learn to:

  • Conduct routine checks and pre-operational inspections

  • Safely plan and prepare forklift operations

  • Operate the forklift in a variety of scenarios

  • Shift loads safely and efficiently

  • Shut down and secure the forklift post-operation

  • Understand WHS obligations and hazard control measures


Assessment

Assessment includes:

  • Written theory test

  • Calculations assessment

  • Practical driving and operational assessment

  • Conducted in accordance with WHSQ assessment instruments


Outcome

On successful completion, participants will receive:

  • Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0003

  • Candidate Assessment Summary (CAN) required to apply for a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) – LF class

There is no CSQ funding available for Forklift Training

 

Target Audience:

A logbook course enable students who are 17 to complete formal training and work towards their licence supervised until they turn 18. A student must be 18 to complete license assessments. Log book courses are the first two days of the course, the assessor will allocate an appropriate amount of hours for the student to complete prior to completing licencing assessments.
